Mike Jacobson
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder
Mike is the CEO of MyCollegeCalendar.org, which he co-founded
in 2006. MyCollegeCalendar.org is a unique, calendar-based, college-prep "how-to" site
written and designed for Junior and Senior high school students. Mike is responsible
for setting the overall direction and product strategy for the company. He
leads the design of MyCollegeCalendar's product offering and development of
its technology and infrastructure. Prior to co-founding MyCollegeCalendar,
Mike was founder and CEO of Izmoi, a hyper-personal web-based back end application
designed to personalize search through complex preference-based algorithms
used by online retailers worldwide; before that Mike was
founder of PugDogDesign, an Southern California Internet Consulting firm specializing
in all aspects of Internet startups and assisting first-time entrepreneur
founders. Mike has more than 13 years of financial, application development
and operational leadership experience with growth oriented startups where he
has held executive management and finance positions at technology and Internet
companies Izmoi, PugDogDesign, DMV.ORG, ProfitLine, SeminarSource, Intercan
Media, and Teltrust. Mike received his BS degrees from University of Montana.
Charlie Kickham
Chief Financial Officer
Charlie is Chief Financial Officer where
he brings more than 15 years of financial and operational leadership in growth
oriented companies to MyCollegeCalendar.org. He is responsible for coordinating
corporate financial and strategic planning with senior management and directing
corporate financial modeling and communications. Charlie most recently served
as Vice President TD Waterhouse (now TDAmerica) managing the firms Global Treasury
and Securities Lending and Trading Desk. Charlie has deep expertise in finance,
modeling and cash management and he currently serves on the boards of several
startups in the North East consulting in the areas of strategy and finance.
A rower at University and post-university level, Charlie has worked with inner-city
high school students as a coach in an after-school boat building operation,
with the view to instilling the themes of dedication, commitment, teamwork
and respect in their daily lives. Charlie is currently working with both NYU
and the London School of Economics to establish an alumni-based VC group exclusively
for student related projects. Charlie received his BS from University of New
Hampshire and an MBA from New York University - Stern School of Business and
London School of Economics.
Steve Sterling
Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder
Steve is COO and co-founder of MyCollegeCalendar.org where
he is responsible for all college and university admission content and works
with staff to ensure all information is written and designed in a way students
can understand. Steve developed the innovative patent-pending approach to MyCollegeCalendar.org's
college admission process. For the past 22 years he has taught and mentored
college students at the university and community college levels. Since 1999,
he has researched, developed and tested the MyCollegeCalendar.org innovative
approach to the college admission process. He continues to work directly with
and guide multitudes of college-bound high school students and their parents,
and consults with high school and college admission counselors to ensure all
the latest college admission information is included in MyCollegeCalendar.org.
Steve received his BS and MBA degrees from California Lutheran University and
his MS from California State University, Northridge.
Shane McGarry
Vice President Software Engineering
Shane is VP of Software Engineering for MyCollegeCalendar.org
where he is responsible for ensuring the design and successful implementation
of our product. Working closely with the CEO, Mike Jacobson, Shane ensures
the technical vision of the company is implemented in a manner than ensures
flexibility and stability utilizing the latest cutting-edge technology in web
and application development. Prior to working for MyCollegeCalendar.org
Shane has held numerous positions within the mobile data, financial, and healthcare
fields that have provided him with a wealth of cross-industry knowledge and
exposure to a number of different development methodologies, all of which have
allowed him to fine tune a successful platform for delivery.
Shane has held positions with Perot Systems,
SMS.ac, LPL Financial, First Allied Securities, and Burnstand Consulting. He
received his BS degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
