If you’re interested in getting a part-time job
while in college, it is recommended that you get an on-campus job. On-campus
jobs are designed with flexible work hours to allow students to attend classes
and school events; transportation is never an issue with on-campus jobs. Also,
during the weeks of mid-term and final exams, your employer will understand
you need to adjust your work hours so you can study and prepare for exams.
Research on-campus jobs by searching for “student
employment” on your college’s website. If you find a job
you’re interested in, call or e-mail the contact person to set up an
interview. Also, ask if you can e-mail a copy of your résumé to
him or her.
If you work off-campus, you should find a job near campus
for ease of walking or driving to work. Take into consideration whether
an off-campus job is located in a “safe” part of town before you
accept employment.
