Local and Regional Scholarships

Local and regional scholarships are typically awarded based on student’s application and résumé, the quality of community service, the quality of a written essay, and possibly on face-to-face interviews with scholarship committees.  Keep in mind, excellent grades qualify students for scholarships (meaning excellent grades make students eligible), but actual winners of scholarships are usually based on the quality of students’ community service, essays, and face-to-face interviews.

Apply to all local and regional scholarships you qualify for.  You don’t need straight “A’s” to win these awards; numerous “B” average students receive significant local and regional scholarships.  Generally, these awards are easier to win than national scholarships.
