Activities Supporting Your College Application Strategy
Your summer activities should reinforce your College
Application Strategy. Summer activities should allow
students to continue with their favorite pursuits and provide opportunities
for them to move into higher levels of responsibility and leadership. For
example, if you previously have been a volunteer at your local Boys & Girls
Club, don’t just volunteer this summer, become a leader or take
charge of a new project. Colleges like to see increased student responsibility,
leadership, personal commitment and growth.
Students who contribute to their community and school, in addition
to demonstrating excellence in the classroom, will make a great impression
on college admission officers. Summer is a perfect time to undertake
non-classroom activities if you have been focused solely on high school
grades and academics. |
