Suggested Summer Activities

Here are some suggestions for summer activities:

Sign up for a summer internship at a local business.

Get a summer job . . . BUT BE CAREFUL! If you make a lot of money during the year, colleges will consider your job a renewable source of income that can be used to pay for college. As a result, they may not give you as much need-based scholarship and grant money next year. Colleges expect you to earn about $3,249 during the year – if you earn more than this, you could be hurting your chances for earning need-based scholarships during your college sophomore year.

Become involved in a volunteer or summer program.

Further your academics at a local community college or high school.
