Visit Colleges on Spring Break

Visit Colleges and Universities During Your Spring Break or During the Coming Summer.

Students’ first visit to college campuses usually occur during spring break of their junior year or during the summer between junior and senior years.  If there are colleges and universities you are interested in, consider visiting them during your spring break.  It’s best to visit colleges and universities while they’re in session to get a true picture of the campus.  Call each college’s admissions office and set appointments to take campus guided tours and to meet admission officers.  Try to meet with department professors who teach subjects in your college major.

Set up interviews with an admission officer and a professor who teaches a subject in your major. Interviews are optional, but an interview will show your interest and enthusiasm and will provide the opportunity to have some of your questions answered.  Also, interviews provide the opportunity to impress college representatives. Plan to bring your parents along on campus visits; it will be good to talk with them about your impressions of each college and university.

PARENTS!  Plan to attend college campus visits with your student.  Be ready to discuss findings and impressions with your student.
