Submit the FAFSA Online

Work with your parents to finish the FAFSA online application as soon as possible.  The paper FAFSA Worksheet should already be completed by hand using estimates of your family’s 2010 income and financial assets.  All you should have to do at this point is to go online and type answers into the blank spaces on the online application.

You can also complete the traditional FAFSA paper form and mail it using regular U.S. mail – ask your high school counselor for the paper form.

ONLINE FAFSA APPLICATION

Complete the FAFSA online application as soon as possible (preferably by January 7, 2011).

When you submit your online FAFSA, you will be able to print the FAFSA results, called the Student Aid Report (SAR or “E-SAR”).  Review your SAR to make sure all the information listed is correct.  The SAR will show your calculated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) based upon the financial information entered.  Your EFC will be used by your colleges to calculate your financial aid awards.

NOTE:  Each college will have a different deadline for submitting the FAFSA.  Many schools REQUIRE the FAFSA to be submitted no later than February 1, 2011.  Note the deadline of each college that has accepted you and DO NOT miss any deadlines.
