Print and Begin Filling Out the FAFSA Worksheet
Prepare yourself and your parents for completing the FAFSA application
in January 2009 by printing a paper copy of the FAFSA Worksheet.
Print a paper copy of the FAFSA Worksheet by going to FAFSA
on the Web Worksheet.
Click on one of the links in the page center in blue letters, "2009-2010
FAFSA on the Web Worksheet (color)" or "2009-2010 FAFSA on
the Web Worksheet (black & white)".
Print the FAFSA Worksheet for your parents to complete.
To complete the FAFSA Worksheet, your parents will need to be prepared
to:
1. Enter the student’s Social Security number and driver’s
license number.
2. Estimate 2008 earning s from jobs and other sources.
3. Give bank statement information.
4. Give investment information.
5. Provide benefit information (including Social Security, veterans’ and
welfare benefits).
6. Provide other financial information.
You and your parents will need to have tax and financial records ready
to review when completing the Worksheet. These records include:
1. Student’s Social Security Number.
2. Student driver's license number (if any).
3. Student’s 2007 W-2 Forms and other records of money earned.
4. Student’s and student’s spouse (if married) 2007 Federal
Income Tax Return - IRS
Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, foreign tax return, or tax return for Puerto
Rico, Guam,
American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated
States of Micronesia or Palau.
5. Student parents' 2007 Federal Income Tax Return (if the student is
a dependent).
6. Student’s and parents’ 2008 untaxed income records - Social
Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare, or veterans
benefits records.
7. Student’s and parents’ most recent bank statements.
8. Parents’ most recent business and investment mortgage information,
business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
9. Student’s alien registration number or permanent residence card
(if the student is not a U.S. citizen)
Have your parents fill out the FAFSA Worksheet by hand before January
2, 2009. Your parents should use estimates of their earned income
and assets for 2008 to complete this Worksheet. Corrections to
the estimates will be made later in February 2009.
Failure to complete the FAFSA application by your colleges’ deadlines
means you will receive NO need-based financial aid. Failure to
complete the FAFSA application in a timely fashion (as per the schedule
in the MyCollegeCalendar™ admission system) can negatively impact
the amount of financial aid awards you receive.
With a completed FAFSA Worksheet in hand, you and your parents will
be ready to enter your information into the online FAFSA in early January
2009. |
