Portfolio Requirements
Art portfolios usually are
required of student applicants who declare visual arts as their college
major; this is in addition to standard application forms and documents.
Typically, 10 or more pieces of art
are required in portfolios; art pieces must use different media (paper,
canvas, clay, photographs, digital images, etc.) and different applications
(color, black and white, paintbrush, pencil, sculptures, etc.).
If your college major will be visual arts, research portfolio requirements
of each college you will apply to and create a plan for completing
each portfolio. Start early; completing high quality works of art will
take longer than you think. Many colleges require digital photographs
of art work to be submitted in a very specific format, so pay attention
to details given in the portfolio instructions.
