College Move In Day

Make a List of Tasks to Complete on Day You Move Into College.

Make a list of things to do when you arrive on campus as an incoming student.  Each college and university is different, however, activities and tasks you should expect to complete include:

- Check in at the new arrivals table.
- Pick up your information packet.
- Check into your dorm (residence hall):
- Get your room key and dorm pass.
- Inspect your dorm room and arrange room furniture as desired.
- Drop your stuff on your side of the room (unpack later).
- Meet your roommate.
- Pick up your student ID card    .
- Pick up your student activity/athletic event card (or sticker).
- Pick up your student library card / bar code.
- Go to the business services office to check your student account and the status of your Work Study on-campus job (if your college offered you a Federal Work Study).
- Go to the financial aid office to make sure all your finances are in order and to sign for your scholarships and grants.
- Go to the bookstore and pick up your pre-ordered textbooks, or select and purchase your textbooks.
- Attend information seminars for students and parents.  Between seminars, many student organizations will have information tables or booths where you can ask questions about their activities.  If interested, you may be able to sign up to join these organizations.
- Say goodbye to your parents.
