Rejected? What to do.
If you’re flat-out rejected by your top choice college and you
really want to attend that school, one last attempt to get accepted
can be made by writing a Letter of Appeal. But beware, rarely
are appeals reversed by colleges (where they change their mind and
accept you).
If a Letter of Appeal is submitted:
- Include additional strong letters of recommendation.
- Explain any special circumstances that affected your past academic
performance (such as a severe illness).
- Include any recent achievements and awards you have earned
that were not documented in your previously submitted application.
- Include strong arguments why you should be accepted and how
the college will benefit from you becoming a member of their college
community.
If you weren’t accepted to any colleges or universities (or
only to your last choice college(s)), you may want to begin searching
for other colleges (college-search) you would be willing to attend. Many
colleges take applications for “Regular Admission” through
February 2009 and some colleges accept “Late Admission” through
summer 2009. Search and find a couple of new colleges you might
like to attend and submit applications for admission.
Keep in mind some colleges do not make final decisions of acceptance
or denial for wait-listed students until as late as July 2009. |
