If you plan to get a job this fall, complete required employment documents
and forms before leaving home for college. Once you arrive at college, you will be
so busy settling into your new living environment, making new friends,
and preparing for classes, it may be difficult to find the time to
complete work-related forms. You should arrive at college
ready to apply for a job; the documents you should complete ahead of
time include:
- Employment résumé
- Form W-4
- Form I-9
EXAMPLE EMPLOYMENT RESUME
There are different résumé formats, use the best one
for you. An example of a typical
employment résumé is provided.
FORMS W-4 AND I-9
Complete employment forms that are required for all on-campus and
off-campus jobs before you arrive at college. These include:
Form
W-4 – Employee's
Withholding Allowance Form
Form I-9 – Employment
Eligibility Verification Form
These forms are relatively simple to complete. Be sure to bring
the types of personal identification listed on the Form I-9 with you
to college (you must show your identification to a supervisor in the
college’s employment office). |
